“Has your child been diagnosed with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, or Learning Disabilities? Cara Koscinski has written two handbooks for families whose children have special needs to guide parents, teachers and caregivers. April is Autism Awareness Month and the books are just the right tool to help with your special need child.

Cara Koscinski generously sent me “The Special Needs School Survival Guide, Handbook For Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, Learning Disabilities and More” and “The Pocket Occupational Therapist For Families of Children with Special Needs” books to read and review. After glancing at The Special Needs School Survival Guide and The Pocket Occupational Therapist books I found an assortment of information that can be useful if your child is a special needs child.

Some of the topics Cara Koscinski touches on in the book “The Pocket Occupational Therapist For Families of Children With Special Needs” (**BOOK updated to second edition The Parent’s Guide to Occupational Therapy for Autism and Other Special Needs since initial blog post) are behavior issues, eating and bathing, and suggests daily activities to help your child. In the book “The Special Needs School Survival Guide, Handbook for Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and More” there are activities and explanations of what certain disorders are and how to encourage your child to learn.

“The Pocket Occupational Therapist for Families of Children With Special Needs” is another great tool for parents and caregivers of special needs children. It is a go-to book for those times when you are not sure what to do or what is happening and you need to know how to handle things.

Check out Cara Koscinski’s Facebook page and you can purchase either book at Jessica Kingsley Publishers and The Special Needs School Survival Guide: Handbook for Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and More can be purchased at Amazon Check out Twitter, Pinterest and The Pocket OT Blog  for all sorts of additional information.

If you have a child that is a special needs child you got to get “The Pocket Occupational Therapist for Families of Children with Special Needs” and “The Special Needs School Survival Guide: Handbook for Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, Learning Disabilities and More” books to help guide you and give you some insight on problem solving. “
