Frankenstein Plate Halloween Craft

Frankenstein Plate Halloween Craft

I love affordable and easy activities for holidays. Here’s one of my favorites for use in the OT clinic, at home, or in the classroom. The supplies are easily bought in bulk or for cheap. If your child has executive function difficulties or is a visual learner, provide a visual of a picture or an actual example of the craft for each step.

If done in a group, set out a limited number of each supply to encourage kids to ask a peer to share. For example, put four glue sticks out for ten kids…..they will use communication to borrow from a friend. Encourage creativity by using colored plates of various solid colors.

Supplies

  • Green Paper Plates (Dollar Tree)
  • Black Foam Paper
  • Black Electrical Tape
  • Glue Stick
  • Googly Eyes

I add fun Halloween music while doing activities. One of my favorites is Super Simple Learning. Their songs are slowed for children who may have speech delays or auditory processing difficulties.

Take your black foam paper and cut out  Frankensteins Hair. This makes a perfect cutting exercise for little ones! Just have them cut out triangles. For added fun, encourage kids to make different shapes and styles of hair!

Once you have hair, take your glue stick and swipe it a few times on the back side of the black foam paper hair.

Glue the black foam paper hair onto your green paper plate.

Now, it’s time to glue on those eyes.

Now take your black Electrical Tape and cut a piece long enough for Frankenstein’s mouth. If you want a more narrow mouth, cut the piece of electrical tape in half (the other half can then be used for the bandage on the forehead).

Tape the electrical tape mouth onto your green paper Plate.

With more electrical tape, cut into a bandage for Frankenstein’s head.

…….just like that, you now have a Paper Plate Frankenstein! Makes one perfect Halloween Craft!
