Pediatric OT Primer

Pediatric OT from assessment and strengths-based interventions to goal writing in all settings.

Beginning in pediatric therapy can be daunting!  Can you say “Hello imposter syndrome!”?  The gap between your academic career and starting your therapeutic career can seem huge!  The Pediatric OT Primer course is here to help you bridge that gap, giving you all you need to start utilizing a child’s strengths to implement evidence-based intervention with confidence!

You’ll receive slides/handouts, resources, a course workbook, and all you need for success. Together, we will review the most recent evidence about interventions in pediatric OT and build your confidence by learning about choosing the best assessments based on the type and psychometric properties.

You will learn to use clinical observations guided by the AOTA’s terminology, understand sensory-based strategies, increase your confidence when dealing with transition difficulties and behavior struggles, realize the importance of movement development/reflex integration; and learn note-writing and how to establish goals for your students that are strengths-based and achievable.
